Dr. Elizabeth Speakman, EdD, RN, FNAP, ANEF, FAAN, will be joining the University of Delaware as Senior Associate Dean of Nursing.
Dr. Speakman previously served as the Associate Provost of Interprofessional and Telehealth Education at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Prior to that, she served at Thomas Jefferson University as the co-director of the Jefferson Interprofessional Education Center (JCIPE), and also as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Assistant Dean of the RN/BSN Program in the Jefferson College of Nursing.
Her research interests center on adult higher education, specifically retention and intervention strategies and community health nursing. She has served as the primary investigator on four research projects focusing on interprofessional education (IPE) and collaborative practice and patient outcomes, and has an extensive history of external funding for her work in IPE and nursing education.
A recognized leader in the field of interprofessional education in healthcare, Dr. Speakman has published a wide array of scholarly articles and book chapters on the topic, most notably as the editor of the newly released textbook Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice. She is also a Fellow in the Academy of Nursing, Academy of Nursing Education, and a Distinguished Fellow in the National Academies of Practice.
Dr. Speakman will officially begin her appointment as Senior Associate Dean of Nursing at UD on August 1, 2020.
